Dr. Kirby Penttila

Dr. Kirby Penttila was born and raised on a small farm outside of Chase, British Columbia. She graduated from Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM) in 2008 and went on to do her veterinary internship at Idaho Equine Hospital in Nampa, where she was first introduced to Platinum Performance. In 2013, she purchased Burwash Equine Services with her husband Cody Bellows and has been growing this practice into a state-of-the-art facility ever since. Dr. Penttila specializes in lameness and sports medicine with a strong interest in equine podiatry and how biomechanics of the foot effect soundness in the horse. When she’s not at the clinic, Dr. Penttila is competing professionally as a barrel racer on her great bay mare, SR Shezndabooktafame or Chic for short. This fierce 8-year-old granddaughter of the great Dash Ta Fame has amassed over $40,000 in lifetime earnings and has helped Dr. Penttila claim the CPRA (Canadian Professional Rodeo Association) Permit Award and almost qualify for the Canadian Finals Rodeo their first year competing.
